Top Leaders in Los Angeles Honored by LA Times Studios
LOS ANGELES, Calif., November 15, 2024 — Minds Matter Southern California (Minds Matter SoCal) is pleased to announce that its president and co-founder, Tina Admans, has been nominated for an Inspirational Women Leadership Award.
The 2024 Inspirational Women Forum and Leadership Awards, presented by LA Times Studios and City National Bank, comprises dynamic panel discussions featuring top business leaders and an evening awards dinner. Accomplished female leaders from nonprofits and corporations will be recognized for exemplary leadership within their organizations and communities across California. The full list of nominees is available here.
“It’s an honor to be nominated and included among such an incredible group of leaders,” Admans said. “There are so many brilliant and talented women in Los Angeles leading organizations and making invaluable contributions in every sector imaginable. I look forward to meeting everyone at the awards, hearing their insight, and celebrating their achievements.”
Admans co-founded the Southern California chapter of Minds Matter in 2010 and serves as president. Minds Matter SoCal is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing the people, preparation, and possibilities that empower high-achieving students from low-income communities to achieve their goals of succeeding in college. Admans has leveraged her extensive corporate experience with Panavision, NBC Universal, and Marketplace by American Public Media to build Minds Matter SoCal into an organization that is recognized as a leader in innovative college success programming.
“One of the things we’re most proud of is that 100% of our graduates have been accepted into four-year colleges,” Admans commented. “And 82% of our graduates attend colleges and universities ranked among the top 50 in the country. Getting to know these young people and supporting them throughout their journeys has been the highlight of my career.”
Under Admans’s leadership, Minds Matter SoCal currently serves 84 high school students and 65 college freshmen—compared with only 11 students in the inaugural year. Admans leads a strong team of full-time education professionals who support over 240 volunteers to deliver critical programming to students. Admans is leading a strategic plan to double the number of students the organization serves over the next four years.
