From Corporate America to Nonprofit Leadership

May 14, 2020 by mindsmatterla

You or someone you know may have contemplated leaving the for-profit world to pursue an opportunity in the nonprofit sector. That’s precisely what Tina Admans did after a successful career as a senior executive with Panavision, NBC|Universal, and General Electric. She found renewed fulfillment in bringing her corporate experience and leadership skills to cofounding and leading Minds Matter of Southern California.

The college success nonprofit has become a force in the Southern California community, transforming the lives of hundreds of high-achieving, low-income students by making their goal of a college education become a reality.

In this episode of the Your Path to Nonprofit Leadership podcast, host Dr. Patton McDowell interviews Tina Admans, President of Minds Matter Southern California. Tina shares her thought process for understanding and exploring nonprofit opportunities and the fascinating circumstance that led her to start – and ultimately lead – Minds Matter SoCal. She shares with remarkable candor the strengths she felt translated effectively into the nonprofit world and the challenges of developing a board of directors, delegating to volunteers, and becoming a confident fundraiser.
